"The Rhode Island Baseball Institute is a second home to me. John (Mello), Mark (Cahill), and Sten (Dave Stenhoue) are like family. Everything that I have accomplished in my baseball career is due to the hard work and dedication that they have instilled in me since I was 9 years old. From little league through high school, college, and now professionally they have been there and still are there for me whenever I need them. The Institute is a place where you learn to play the game of baseball, but more importantly you learn the keys of hard work and success. There are many people that I have run into while playing baseball that claim to be "coaches", but never have I met or expect to meet people that are so dedicated to their students and players and will do anything to see them succeed"

"I have been going to RIBI since I was ten years old and it has been an instrumental part of my development as a baseball player and more importantly my development as a person. The guidance I received on and off the field gave me the instruction and frame of mind necessary to play Major League Baseball. In my amateur baseball career I attended classes at RIBI in pitching, hitting, and catching. As a professional baseball player, the Institute provides me with continued instruction with my hitting and catching. The facility gives me a place where I can hit, run, and throw during the MLB off-season. I can honestly say that RIBI carved a straight path for me from youth baseball to MLB. Without their personal one on one instruction and structure, the pursuit of my dream would have been much more difficult. The Institute provides me with the ability to practice my skills year round regardless of season, without this luxury I would not have been able to compete against players who were lucky enough to play baseball 12 months out of the year. "I have been involved with the Rhode Island Baseball Institute for eight years and experienced almost all of the programs the Institute has to offer and I can honestly say this is the best facility of its kind in New England. After suffering from Little Leaguers Elbow at age 12, I was referred to coach Cahill (Mark Cahill) to begin my rehab and relearn correct pitching mechanics. Since that age I have consistently utilized the Institute for everything from one-on-one pitching and hitting lessons to group pitching and hitting lessons to strength and conditioning training to merely a place to hang out and talk with the multitude of dedicated and self-motivated peers and coaches who frequent the facility everyday. Although I now go to school outside of Rhode Island, I still visit to throw and workout every time I come home and the Institute is the perfect place to train and prepare for the spring during my Christmas break. I have my own coaches at school and during the summer, but I still call coach Cahill for advice before big games or to talk about what could have gone wrong after a tough loss. The Institute instructors have years of experience both playing and coaching and have gained extensive knowledge about not only the game but also what it takes to make it to the next level. Most importantly, they are able to tailor mechanics to each individual athlete. They do not try to mold players into certain hitting styles or pitching motions but give personal instruction to each individual"
